This is not a guaranteed-positive-review service and it is not a production line for generic praise. Lupe accepts books when the premise, voice or emotional world gives her a genuine reason to care. Each selected title is approached with attention, curiosity and respect for the work behind it.

If a book is unlikely to receive at least a thoughtful three-star review, Lupe normally declines coverage, stops reading or chooses not to publish a public review. Independence remains essential; cruelty does not. Commercial partnerships never purchase praise and never influence a rating or editorial conclusion.

The Lupe Farkas Review Philosophy

A book can be reviewed honestly without being treated cruelly.

Every book is someone’s work, risk and hope. Honesty does not require humiliation.

Lupe’s reviews are kind, but they are not empty compliments. She writes about what the book made her feel, where its power lives, how the voice and structure shaped the reading experience and which readers are most likely to connect with it. When something does not work for her, she explains the response without attacking the author or turning a vulnerable creative act into entertainment.

Reviews are spoiler-free whenever possible. If discussing a detail is necessary, it is handled carefully and clearly signposted. The purpose is to create curiosity, conversation and informed discovery, not to remove the experience awaiting the next reader.

Independent authors are never treated as a lesser category. A self-published novel, a debut from a small press and a major international release all arrive at the same desk; each is judged by the story on the page and the experience it creates.

Priority is given to psychological and literary fiction, women’s fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, witchy and gothic stories, memoir, narrative nonfiction and books exploring identity, reinvention, belonging, grief, culture or complicated women. Other genres are considered when the premise refuses to be ignored.

Accepted digital copies may be supplied as EPUB or Kindle-compatible files. Audiobooks and physical editions are also considered.

Review timing and additional coverage are agreed when possible. Thoughtful reading takes precedence over rushed content.

Independent authors deserve seriousness. Major publishers deserve genuine editorial judgement.

Lupe welcomes direct submissions from independent authors, debut writers, small presses, literary publicists, book marketers, agents, imprints and international publishing houses. The size of the campaign does not determine the seriousness of the reading.

For publishers and publicists, the strongest pitches explain why a particular title fits Lupe’s established interests rather than sending an anonymous catalogue blast. Seasonal lists are welcome, especially when one or two priority titles are clearly identified.

For independent authors, professionalism does not require a corporate press release. A clear, human email explaining the book, its publication information and why you believe Lupe may connect with it is enough to begin.

Before You Submit

Questions publishers and authors usually ask.

Do you accept independently published books?

Yes. Independent authors, small presses, publicists and major publishers are all welcome to submit. Selection is based on the book, not the size of the publishing house.

Is acceptance a guarantee of a positive review?

No. Lupe’s credibility depends on independent opinion. Acceptance means the book genuinely interests her and will be approached with care.

Can I request a podcast interview?

You may express interest. Invitations are selective and are usually offered when the book or author opens a conversation that extends beyond a standard review.

Which formats are accepted?

EPUB and Kindle-compatible digital editions are preferred. Audiobooks and physical editions may also be considered. PDF is accepted only when it suits the reading experience.

Can publishers propose several titles?

Yes. A concise seasonal catalogue or carefully chosen list is welcome. Please identify the strongest fit for Lupe’s current editorial world.

Where is Lupe based?

Lupe is an Italo-Brazilian author and reviewer based in Europe. She works internationally and reviews in several languages.

How early should a time-sensitive release be submitted?

As early as possible. Lupe keeps a selective reading calendar and will only confirm a publication window that allows enough time to read attentively. Please include the release date and any genuine deadline in the first email.

Do authors pay for editorial reviews?

No. Honest editorial consideration and review ratings are not sold. Separate sponsorships or commercial partnerships may occasionally be available, but they are clearly disclosed and remain completely independent from review selection, wording and rating.
