I write books. I read other people’s books. Then I talk about all of it. Things escalated.
I’m an Italian author, independent book reviewer and host of the Imperfect Rebel podcast. I write psychological fiction, read anything capable of becoming an obsession, and have somehow built an entire literary ecosystem around books, conversations and ideas that refuse to behave.
The short version
Hi, I’m Lupe.
Most of my days involve some combination of writing, reading, making notes in margins, opening far too many tabs and deciding that a perfectly manageable idea would be much more interesting if I made it slightly more complicated.
As a writer, I’m drawn to psychological fiction, complicated women, shifting perceptions, emotional consequences and the questions people avoid until they can’t anymore.
As a reader, I’m wonderfully less disciplined. Give me psychological fiction, literary fiction, fantasy, witchy books, gothic stories, historical fiction, memoir, strange families, unreliable perceptions and anything with enough atmosphere to make me forget what time it is.

The Author
I make fictional people make excellent bad decisions.
My writing lives in psychological fiction, horror, emotionally complicated characters and stories where understanding arrives slowly and never quite behaves the way you expected. I’m currently deep inside the Tuscan Trilogy while also editing The Chosen.
The Reader
I read for the thing underneath the plot.
I review ARCs and published books independently, looking at voice, atmosphere, emotional intelligence, structure and the strange little thing that makes one story follow you around after you finish it. Witchy books and fantasy are especially dangerous to my objectivity.
The Rebel
I apparently needed more ways to talk about books.
The podcast, Journal and Chaos Lab are where everything else escapes: author conversations, reading obsessions, adaptations, experiments, notebooks, rabbit holes and whatever project gets approved by the deeply unqualified committee in my head.
The name
Why Lupe Farkas?
Lupe Farkas is a pen name.
I’m Italian, and the name grew out of several things I’ve loved for as long as I can remember: wolves, dogs in general, fantasy, folklore and the slightly magical worlds where names feel as though they should mean something.
It wasn’t chosen because it sounded marketable or because somebody built a branding spreadsheet. I wanted a name that felt like the stories I love: a little wild, a little mysterious and slightly more likely to wander into a forest than attend a sensible networking event.
Eventually, Lupe Farkas stopped feeling like a name I wrote under.
She became the part of me that writes.
Before all this
There was the boring job.
Before I started writing full-time, I worked in crisis management and quality across the automotive and aerospace industries.
The real job involved customer crises, quality systems, investigations, problem solving, technical documentation and the sort of meetings where fifteen people could spend forty-five minutes discussing a defect that could have been explained in three sentences.
I call it the boring job. It was not actually boring. It was intense, technical and occasionally completely absurd. But compared with inventing fictional people and then emotionally destroying them, it now feels like another lifetime.
What survived the boring job?
A strange amount, apparently. I still love structure, research, solving complicated problems and turning technical chaos into something another human being can actually understand. So every now and then, I ghostwrite technical books and specialist material. It is the one place where my old professional brain is still allowed out unsupervised.
The books I love
Atmosphere first. Emotional damage welcome.
I love psychological and literary fiction, but I’m equally happy disappearing into fantasy, witchy books, gothic stories, historical fiction, memoir and anything slightly strange.
I like books with atmosphere. Books with questions. Books with women who are complicated, difficult, obsessive, misunderstood or all four before breakfast.
And if there is a witch involved, my objectivity may already be compromised.
I don’t have a niche. I have a very large table.
Writing sits at one end. Reading at the other. Somewhere in between are ARC reviews, the podcast, the Journal, Chaos Lab, technical ghostwriting, page-to-screen obsessions, notebooks, research rabbit holes and whatever the deeply unqualified committee approves next.
Currently
Busy writing the Tuscan Trilogy.
The trilogy began with Before October Ends. I’m now finishing After October Ends, with When October Ends waiting beyond it. Apparently October has become a long-term professional commitment.
A Halloween horror novella arriving 31 October 2026.
