Apparently Instagram Believed My Threats

Today’s post is going to be short.
Tomorrow this experiment officially reaches one month, and I am already working on the strategy for what happens next.

Quick reminder: my daily analytics always run one day behind.
So although I’m writing this on Wednesday, these are the results from Tuesday, Day 29.
And Tuesday ended with a small act of violence.

Fine.
Apparently 305 was a spike and not my immediate transformation into the New York Times.
But then I opened the last seven days.
And things became considerably more interesting.
Instagram Believed My Threats
Rebels, do you remember a few days ago when I was threatening Meta that I would learn black magic if Instagram didn’t start cooperating?
Well…
Apparently learning it was unnecessary.
They heard me.

Instagram gave us:
And then, I can only assume, Instagram ran through Meta headquarters screaming:
Because Facebook suddenly woke up too.
Asking purely for scientific purposes.
LinkedIn Is Finding Strangers
LinkedIn delivered 1,231 impressions, up 42%.
And 88% came from outside my network.
Strangers.
Strangers who are slowly becoming Rebels.
That might be one of my favourite numbers this week.
The Rest of Our Little Internet Ecosystem
The podcast reached 32 plays/downloads in seven days, up 100%.
And Tumblr, my strange little resurrected corner of the old internet, has reached 14 followers.
Meanwhile, the website returned to Earth with its 105 views.
And actually?
I’m happy.
Because the more I watch these numbers, the more obvious something becomes:
One platform slows down.
Another one wakes up.
Another starts showing your work to strangers.
Another quietly doubles.
And somewhere in the middle of all of that, people begin finding you.
No ads.
No boosted posts.
No paid promotion.
Just one indie author throwing things at the internet every day to see what sticks.
Very scientific.
Rebels, I Need One Tiny Favour
There is one number I would REALLY love to change before we close this first month.
